One More Thing
Okay, one more thing before we start the DVD/Menu thing (see yesterday's post). We are launching a new contest today. The prize will be a free, autographed copy of A Bride Most Begrudging. Only one entry per person and you must live in the continental US to be eligible to win. (sorry!)
Here's how it works. You click here, fill out the entry form and answer the question. You do not have to get the answer right to be eligible to win. You simply have to make a guess. (There is only one right answer.)
Our question came from one of our very own bloggers (thank you very much, Barb) and it is (drum-roll):
Which activity from A Bride Most Begrudging has Deeanne Gist participated in?
- Milked a goat
- Wrestled a rooster
- Slept with a skunk
- Hacked at turtle heads
- Fought in a food fight
At the end of the contest, I will announce what percentage of votes each answer received as well as who's name was drawn out of the hat to win the prize. So ... go for it! A reminder that we are having many visitors over the next couple of days from our "Virtual Book Tour." If you are interested in visiting the blogs that are participating, I will be posting a list of links in the "Press Room" under "Virtual Book Tour" as they become available. I will also post any interviews they do in that same room under the "Interviews" sub-category. If you are a visitor, please be sure to introduce yourselves in the comments section and let us know you came by! And don't forget to enter the contest!

Hmmm. Well, goats and roosters and food fights are fairly accessible in our country, and no smart person (aka you) would ever sleep with a skunk. Those seem like the obvious ones to eliminate. So it must be the hacking at turtle heads. You're not too far from the ocean, right? I win! Re this "edgy" definition, brought up in that recently posted interview...our ancient dictionary has a 2nd definition of edgy as "on edge; irritable." Which is what I've always thought of when I hear the word. Like, having to do with psychosis or nerves. However, the FIRST definition is "sharp-edged; sharply defined." So "edgy inspirational" must be inspirational work that is cutting edge. Right???

Cutting edge. I like that! And now I know "edgy" is the correct term, because some find edgy inspirational sharp and some find it irritable! Ha!

Oh come on! Well, I did ask my daughter for her definition of "edgy" and she figured it had something to do with PMS week. So there is that other side to it. But edgy FICTION is good! Exciting! Innovative! Fresh! Going where no Christian author has dared to go before! And just so we're clear, I'm not entering the contest even tho I have no clue what the real answer is, cuz it just wouldn't be right if you used my idea, then I somehow managed to guess what it really is, and then my name ended up getting picked for the cool reward besides. Frankly, I hope it's NOT the turtle head-hacking thing, cuz that would just be SO gross. Blech and double-blech. I'm not sure how you were even able to write such stuff without throwing up. Ugh.

Just read yesterday's interview with TL Hines and enjoyed your comment re how you choose your character names! I have a question for all and sundry out there--for you with teen daughters, what's your policy on romance novels? Do you let them only read "safe" Christian romances? Do you let them read the sexy secular ones? Do you let them read romance novels at all? Honest question--would luv to read deep and meaningful thoughts on the subject!
