Yes, and that scene was particularly good, one of the best of the book. I thought the forgiveness came across very well.
If you look at the history of the martyrs you often find that extraordinary goodness coming out at the end. In truth I think for the Christian when faced with death, the nearness of Christ to his beloved overwhelms them and they say and do things they would have never thought themselves possible of doing.
This was good.

I agree that it's believable. If you're dying anyway, what have you got to lose? You might as well forgive.
And if we could live each moment that way even if we're not dying, think how much better off we'd be.

I loved this scene. It reminded me of the Randy Travis song, Three Crosses, where the pastor hands his blood-stained Bible to the prostitute just before he dies. What a great scene. For me, it was believeable, and one of the most emotional in the book. Loved this part! Go Chris!

I hope I would do this. And if I'm too "out of it" under such circumstances to say the actual words, I sure hope I'd think them.
Either way, I thought the scene was totally believable. Especially since Well had done such a good job of demonstrating Christ's love through Fresno.

Yes, I do. But not just anyone could. I think Chris had enough characterization before this scene so that we knew this Pastor was capable.
