Back in the Saddle
I took a wee little break from the treadmill (about a 4-month break) and got back in that saddle this morning. Ohmygosh. My legs were stinging and burning within the first 8 minutes. Thought I was gonna die. I went to a Beth Moore Bible study once where she said we needed to quit whining about exercising and instead praise the Lord everytime we started having negative thoughts.
I confess I forgot all about praising the Lord and could only concentrate on how miserable I was. Tomorrow I'm going to bring my Best of Avalon CD and when the going gets rough I'm gonna praise, praise, praise. (I'd love to sing out loud and wave my hands in the air, but the folks at the YMCA might freak out. Perhaps I could tell them it's a new exercise technique guaranteed to melt away calories, eh?) ;-)
That reminds me (don't ask me why) of an encouragement greeting card I saw that was designed with an exercise partner in mind. On the front of the card it challenged your partner to touch her toes twenty times every morning and you would do the same. On the inside of the card it said that using her boobs didn't count. I laughed and laughed.

Ha! That card sounds like a cousin to one I saw that was based on the old "Do your ears hang low" ditty but... well, modified slightly.
Thanks for the smiles, Dee.

I've been doing crunches the last few months and my belly button is just about back up where it used to be. I'm so proud! :o)
