Christian Friction
There was a front page article in the Religion section of the Houston Chronicle this weekend about "Christian Friction." It featured some of our local authors who are writing edgy inspirational. I have yet to read any of the authors mentioned, but plan to stop by the book store and pick some of their stuff up.
I was especially encouraged to see that the article cited Book Industry Trends 2005 who predicted a 50 percent increase in religious book sales over the next five years. That's great news!
Here's the article. Thoughts?

Interesting piece! I guess for me the best Christian authors strike a good balance between going too secular, too degenerate, and going too "churchy." Sort of like us in our day-to-day lives--Are we honest Christians in our homes and outside of them, or are we one thing out in the big world, and a different thing at home. What's the truth? And does being a Christian mean using a lotta Christian lingo and looking a certain way, or does it have to do with heart issues? Which are reflected in our speech and dress, but also in our honesty levels and willingness to admit wrongdoing. Of course you expect a happy ending in romance novels in particular, but how an author gets there is the key. I don't like it to be predictable, but the story also has to be reasonable. Anyway, more than you hoped for, I'm sure!!! And btw, I read the Brenda Coulter book you recommended....

A very interesting article. I recognized most of the names mentioned, and now I'd like to read their books, just to see what's what.
Good thoughts on honesty, Barb.
