Retirement? Already?

Retirement is hurtling toward Greg at a surprising pace. (I plan to keep writing for a long while.) When looking for a place to spend our golden years, we wanted some place with temperate climate year round, a lake, a little golf and a mountain view. (We don't ask for much, eh?)

This weekend my husband and I are going to look at property at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether we find anything is very much up in air. But it will be fun to spend the weekend together and dream alittle.

We leave first thing tomorrow morning, so I'll see you on Monday.

Have fun. That's a beautiful area. I grew up at the feet of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Roanoke, VA.

Keep us posted (but I'm not helping you move...unless there's free pizza).

My hubby and I just did a motorcycle trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Breathtaking views. I guess that's not the foothills, though.

I'll help you move, even if there's no free pizza. :)

This is perfect. Meg helps you move and I get pizza!

Um, wouldn't a move like that mean changing climates? Like, weather in VA is not always like the happy warm weather of TX....

Pizza for everybody! No moving required. But you may want to have a meal or two between now and then. We aren't looking to officially retire for at least another 10 years.

Saw lots of riders, Meg.

Have to confess, Barb, my man is not too sure about leaving Texas. It's where our roots are and we have been here twenty years--thirty by the time we retire. That will definitely be a tough call.

But we are actually looking forward to living somewhere that has all four seasons, yet we are trying to stay far enough south that none of them are severe.
