To Be Or Not To Be
This photo is now the wallpaper on my desktop. My husband and I went to the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains this weekend to look at properties we might be interested in retiring on. This photo was a taken on the piece of property that I loved the most. It's on the water, faces north and has a mountain view. That's the good part. The catch is the property's a bit narrow and slants down, way down. Would make getting to and from the water a very challenging climb.
This is the view from Greg's favorite lot. No view of the mountains (the property faces due east), but a beautiful view nonetheless. The lot is more roomy than the one I liked and has a gentler slope (though it's no piece of cake to traverse, either).
This is another lot we looked at. Beautiful view, but I wouldn't feel comfortable running around the house in my jammies when who knows who could be right outside my window on hole number five. But would you look at that fairway? Looks like a putting green. The whole course was like that. Absolutely gorgeous.

And thus ends our first foray into looking for places to retire. No decisions are being made yet. We do, after all, have ten years before passing "Go."

Beautiful. Just beautiful. How's that scrapping coming along? I've been praying really hard for you. I guess you had to take a break from it with going out of town and all. I'm hosting a scrapbook party in mid to late May. I'll give you the details later.

Yeah, wuzzup with the scrapbook? I'd buy all three pieces of property and rotate. Or get some of your friends to retire up there with you!

Scrapbook had to be put on hold over the weekend. I'm deep into it now. It must be finished by Friday, so I'm looking at pulling all-nighters if I don't make some serious progress over the next couple of days.
Right now, I have finished up through letter P. I am working on Q (Q is for Quit Pestering Me). It is a page of my son and the other kids (aka. his siblings).

OK, suddenly my ten acres in Rocheport are looking a little bland...;)

You are a silly, Allison. Your *ten* acres are spread out and usable. My teeny acreage is at a sixty degree incline.
I wonder if we could build a lift onto the stairway that will run from the house to the boat. Think hubby would build me one of those?
No. I don't think he will, either.

Absolutely beautiful. I can just picture you out there with your laptop, writing your little heart out.
