Winners and Resolutions
Well, I'm a bit behind on announcing our contest winners. So, I will take care of that now. First, meet our January/February winner: Mary Ann from Merrick, New York. Congrats, Mary Ann! Our March winner has been notified. When I hear back from her, I will post that info. Meanwhile, the Question of the Month for Jan/Feb was:
Which New Year's Resolution did Deeanne Gist achieve in 2005?
- Finished and turned in Measure of a Lady one month before it was due to the publisher
- Completed last year's family scrapbook (for 2004)
- Changed the oil in her car every 5,000 miles
- Resisted purchasing anything from mail order catalogs
- Hand painted a border in her study and half-bath
Here's how you voted:
- 37% voted Dee finished Lady one month early
- 34% voted Dee finished her 2004 scrapbook
- 24% voted Dee painted a border
- 5% voted Dee resisted mail order catalogs
- 0% voted Dee changed the oil in her car
So, what's up with the oil thing? I take care of my car. But, alas, you were right. I don't change the oil as often as I should. And, I'm on 1996 as far as my scrapbooking goes. I turned in Lady one day early (not one month). Mail order catalogs are my weakness--well, that and brownies. I really love brownies. So, the correct answer is ...[insert drumroll] ...
Dee hand painted a border in her study and half bath.
Wanna see it? Here it is:

So ... there you have it. My big project for 2005.
Congratulations to our winner MARY ANN. She chose "completed last year's scrapbook" as her answer and I appreciate her confidence in me, but I must confess it isn't so. I am way into scrapbooking, though, so maybe I'll scan a few pages from one of my albums and show them to you. Anyhoo, Mary Ann received a free, autographed copy of Bride.

Gorgeous! Simply gorgeous! Are you up for traveling in Canada sometime? You could stop by my house and do a little here and there... ;)

Thanks! I've officially retired from decorative painting. I wanted really badly to do a mural in my laundry room. Some kind of outdoor garden scene on cobblestones. (Thinking that the mural would help me not feel so "closed in" when doing the wash.)
But, we've been in the house for 7 years and I haven't managed it yet and don't see when I'd have time to tackle such a big project. And there is this book I'm suppose to be writing...!
So, 'nough said.

Some people have all the talent--sheesh. But a mural in the laundry room??? Why not a mural in the living room or dining room? Say maybe a western saloon look, or a boarding house dining room. Help you get into the mood of your happy novels!

No, I need to get away from those novels when I "come home" from work. But the laundry room is such a depressing little hole, you know? It needs something to brighten it up, make it bigger.
