Friday, May 12, 2006New and Improved  Well, The Measure of a Lady has been released early. The publisher ships my author copies out the same time as they ship to the stores. I received my copies a few days ago, which means they'll start showing up in the stores any day now.Who has them on the shelf first depends on the route the books take. Some stores use a distributor. So, Bethany House will send those orders to a distributor, who then logs them in and sends them out to the stores that were designated to receive them. Then, once they reach the stores, the box has to be opened, logged in, and shelved. The independent stores who don't use distributors, receive the books direct from Bethany House. So, they will most likely be a jump ahead of those who have distributors. But you never know. The minute I say something like that, low and behold, they'll show up in a big chain somewhere. The online bookstores that say it isn't available will receive their copies soon and will, therefore, be forwarding them to you as soon as they receive them. (I noticed CBD has Lady in stock and ready to go.) In any event, Lady should be available at your local store any day now. So ... be nice to the truck drivers, cause some of those trucks out there have my books in them! In anticipation of Lady's release, we gave our website a face lift, so to speak. We added Lady to our home page. You can read an excerpt in our bookstore. You can play new games on our games page. And we've updated our press room. I also have delayed the newsletter until June 1st. So, if you haven't signed up for it, now would be a good time. Have a great weekend!

Nice updates on your site, and the book is gorgeous. I'm picturing bookstore employees all over the country, unpacking boxes. Opening the book for one little peek. Getting hooked. And pretty soon they're on page 27 or so and the boss comes walking by. Oops....

I know they are in at the Christain Source in the Woodlands mall. They had not come in at B&N yet or at Lifeway.
OK, so I was a little excited.

Hi, Erin!!! Hey, everybody. This is Erin. She's a college student and a sweetheart. Her mother has led me in many a Ladies' Bible study over the years. The Christian Source she is referring to is in my hometown in Texas. (Thanks for telling us, Erin. I didn't know!)

Meg, you're exactly right. I'm the Inventory Control Supervisor (ICS) at my local Christian bookstore (a chain) and the books arrived on Tuesday! That's the 16th.
I opened the box, starting pulling out product and... lo, and behold, I see Deanne's face on the back cover. You can only imagine the thrill of excitement that flowed from head to toe and the big grin that appeared on my face.
SO tempting to get a peek at the beginning, but I was good. I placed the book in my TBP pile (to be purchased) and continued my work. BUT, that doesn't mean I didn't plug the book to everyone else. Silly publisher only sent us 3 copies and all 3 copies sold that day.
Sorry Deanne. You don't have any books on our shelves yet. *winks*
