He Went West, Our Young Man
Well, our 18 year old left the nest on Monday. He's decided to opt out of the college-route and, instead, go find his way in the big, wide world. So Saturday we gave him a going away party. We had about 15 to 20 kids over for burgers, hot dogs and swimming.
Our son and his buddies love to do flips off of just about anything--platforms, balconies, roofs, whatever. Here they are flipping off of the side of the swimming pool.
Then he loaded up his car from top to bottom and headed west before the sun came up on Monday morning. We received a call from him yesterday evening saying he'd arrived safe and sound.
Hard to believe he's on his own now. I hope he finds a job soon!

Hmmm--he must not be headed for Norway, a la mom and dad in their youth, if he took his car! Is he hoping to make it somehow in the big entertainment world? Or just explore for awhile?

It's both rewarding and scary to see them spread their wings and fly.
Lord, bless Deeanne's son in his new adventure.

Amen.
He's just spreading his wings and flyin', Barb. Lord willing, he'll have a safe landing!

I do luv the Esther Williams thing they've got goin' there at the pool. I'd say he has a promising future in the entertainment industry!

He'd be a great stunt man, but that would be a little tough on Mom's nerves! He is also really good at film making. He gave me a film he made of him and his buddies doing their stunts. It is so well done. As soon as I can figure out how to upload it, I'll post it and show it to everybody.

Cool! We'll look forward to it! Has he read The Fall Guy by John Wayne's stunt man, Chuck Roberson? Bodie Thoene wrote the book for the guy. Maybe if Son becomes a big-time stunt man you can meet your fave movie stars??? Ya got any current ones?

Can't think of a single one I have a hankerin' to meet. What about you?

I think all the famous people worth meeting will be in Denver this next week!

You said *movie* stars. I don't think we'll be seeing any of those. At least, I won't!

hmm, movie stars I've got a hankerin' to meet? That would be Kevin Costner, Harrison Ford, Kate Hudson, Matthew McConnoughey (sp?) and Julie Andrews. Already know Jane Seymour and met so many others, but those still remain.
Best of luck to your son. May God bless his efforts and his pursuits.
