Beverly Lewis

My dear friend and fellow Bethany House author, Beverly Lewis, has been nominated for a Quill Award in the "Best Romance" category for her book The Preacher's Daughter. These awards are reader driven, so I wanted to encourage everyone to vote for Bev. Click here to see the nominees. Click here to vote.

This particular book of Bev's appeared on the USA Today Bestseller List, was #1 on the CBA Bestseller List, and was not only given the highly coveted Starred Review in the Library Journal, but was also selected as one of the Best Genre Fiction of 2005 by the Library Journal (only 5 Christian titles were included on this list).

The Preacher's Daughter introduces Annie Zook, the 19-year-old daughter of an Old Order Amish preacher, who wants to please her parents and her community, but a hidden passion stands in the way. It is the first book in the Annie's People series and I highly recommend it if you haven't read it already.

Don't forget to vote!

That's quite a diverse group of romance novels that are up for that award!

You gave us a tantalizing little taste of the plot. Now I'll have to read it.

Och!! For the last several years I've managed to avoid reading anything by Beverly Lewis. You see, I have this illness. Some call it an obsession. Whatever it is, if I enjoy just one book by a particular author I'm compelled to read her entire backlist.

That's why I'm so glad I found you, Deeanne, before you had a backlist. I started with A Bride Most Begrudging last year and went from there. Now I just get your books as they come out and it's easy. lol

Anyhoo, I recently moved from Arkansas to less than an hour away from Amish Pennsylvania. First that and now your recommendation.

Goodbye, self control. Hello, Beverly Lewis...

Not to sound hugely dumb (or dumber than usual!), but any specific ideas why Miz Lewis' books are so popular? What particular qualities they have that make everyone want to read them, or to keep reading them?

To Barb - I have no idea as I haven't read any of them yet. But I've heard they're fantastic.

To Deeanne - I blogged about you yesterday. lol Hope you don't mind!

I've read almost all of the "amish" novels of Beverly Lewis' and they are terrific. I'm anxiously awaiting the newest book of Annie's people series. Her books are very good reads because they not only have a romantic storyline, but also include a mystery storyline. I highly recommend them.
