Them's My Dress Boots

Well, you've asked to see my boots, so ... here they are along with my rodeo duds and my big, silver buckle. I quit wearing a cowboy hat years ago because it messes up my hair. I know, a sacrilegious statement if there ever was one. But there you have it.

I have a black leather jacket with fringe as well, but I forgot to include it in my photo (seeing as it's summer and all). I love my boots, though, and wear them no matter what season it is or what event I'm going to. I've worn them to formal events with my skirts and to outdoor BBQs in my jeans.

If you are thinking to buy some, don't skimp on your purchase. Poorly made boots are about the most uncomfortable thing in the whole wide world. Mine are handmade right here in Texas by Lucchese, Inc. who've been makin' boots since 1883. Other reputable boot makers are Rocketbuster USA, Stallion, and Liberty Classic. When you first buy them, you have to wear double layers of socks and rub leather softener on the boots until they conform to your feet. After that, they are pure heaven to wear.

Guess that's all folks. Yippee-ki-yi-yah!

Used to. Haven't done one in years. I need to remedy that. Maybe this February me and the ol' man will go to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. We always enjoy it when we do.

But you're not a participant? Like you don't rope calves or bust broncs yourselves?
What's gonna happen to all this fancy western wear when y'all retire to the Carolinas??

Nope. I'm a city girl, through-and-through. Even still, all my western wear is comin' with me to the Carolinas. You can take the girl outta Texas, but you can't take Texas outta the girl!

Don't you just love when you put on your boots and accidentally find a place that has wood floors? I just love that! I used to put my boots on and walk around our deck in the back yard, four houses ago when we had a deck in the back yard.

Nothing like boots on a wood floor!

LOL, EJ. Cowboy boots and wooden floors go together like coffee and cream--ain't nothin' better.

I looked for pics of me all duded up, Barb, but either I'm lookin' in the wrong place or the pics are from the shoulders up. I'll try and remember to have someone take a picture of my feet next time I'm out. ;-)

And do you wear jeans or those cool flouncy western skirts when you're "duded up?" Just to be extra-nosey...

Both--but not at the same time. ;-)
