Book of the Year

I'm back and, boy, am I glad to be home and sleeping in my own bed!!

The American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) Conference in Dallas this weekend was so much fun. My editor, Dave Long, was there. Two of my critique partners, Meg Moseley and Mark Bertrand, were there. I made lots of new friends and connected with several internet-buddies. We worked, we dined, we played. Liz Curtis Higgs was our keynote speaker and she was delightful.

Bride didn't win the Book of the Year for Best Long Historical, but it came in second place. I was very thrilled and received a really nice certificate. The other nominees in my category were:
  1. Color My Soul, by Tracey Bateman
  2. Joy For Mourning, by Dorothy Clark
  3. Oksana, by Susan Downs & Susan May Warren
  4. Dawn of a Thousand Nights, by Tricia Goyer
The winner was: Dawn of a Thousand Nights by Tricia Goyer. Congratulations, Tricia!!

Here's a photo of the winners and finalists that were present (I'm first row, 2nd from the right. Tricia wasn't there.):

I'm glad to be back and I've missed you!

Congratulations! That's quite a fete and one I know you're proud of.

Liz Curtis Higgs is one of my most favorite people. She is so very gracious and kind. And she's a hoot to boot!! I met her last year (complete with a photo) and consider her one of my favorite email buddies.

Thanks, girls. I went out after the ceremony with my editor and a group of friends. It was lots of fun.

When I got home Sunday, Greg offered to take me out, but I was so exhausted, I opted instead to take a nap (which ended up being 3 hours long), then we watched a couple of episodes of 24. And I'm here to tell ya, it just doesn't get any better than that!

P.S. You were missed, Allison! For those of you who want a detailed view of some of the happenings at ACFW, click on the "Mark Bertrand" link above for Allison & my critique partner's post.

I agree, Liz Curtis Higgs is wonderful. I've got to start reading her books. (Like I need to add to my to-be-read pile.)

And congratulations on your second-place win, Dee!
