Cover Model -- Part 3
Today is the final installment of our interview with model Jennifer Rasmussen. As she mentioned earlier in the week, she posed for the cover of Courting Trouble in several different outfits from 1895. This is another one that they were considering. Remember, the staircase was photographed seperately and Jennifer was photoshopped in. Love the white boots!
Now ... on with our interview.
What sorts of assignments are you working on right now--all book covers or a mix of things?
Well, right now I just did another book cover. However, in this photo I had a husband and a 10 month old baby boy ... lol.
What sort of modeling assignment would you like that you haven't yet done?
A modeling assignment I would like to do is to be on TV as a teacher because I love working with children.
What kind of advice would you give to someone wanting to become a book cover model?
I would say to send in your pics to a modeling agency. Once you're with an agency, talk with them and see if they can get you work doing book covers. It really is a lot of fun and unlike a magazine, it never gets thrown out!
Will you read Courting Trouble when it comes out?
I definitely will read the book when it comes out! Just want to finish reading The Measure of a Lady first.
Thus concludes our interview with Jennifer. I want to give her a big thank you for being so sweet as to give us her time. I also wanted to thank Barb (one of our regular commenters) who came up with all the questions for Jennifer--great job, Barb!
Here is one last look at Jennifer on the cover of Courting Trouble along with the premise of the novel. Essie Spreckelmeyer, who turns thirty in 1895, decides she is through waiting on the Lord for a husband. So, she writes down the names of all the eligible bachelors in her small Texas town, makes a list of their attributes and drawbacks, closes her eyes, twirls her finger, and ... picks one.
Coming to a bookstore near you June 2007!

The questions were easy--it was even better that you got such a fun and cheery interview subject! I think the teal dress will stand out better than the green suit in ads and on shelves. Tho those white boots are sharp!

Thanks, ladies, for the interview. Jennifer, it has been fun. Stick around and let us know how you liked Lady.

This has been such a fun week!
And the book blurb cracks me up. I can't wait to read it. :o)

Loved the interview! Oh, I adore the cover design they decided on, although they were all so cute! I think I would have been happy with any of them. How about you, Dee? I'm glad I don't work in the cover art department. With all those wonderful choices, how would one ever make up his mind?
BTW, I cracked up at the song you sent the art department. That was too cute!
Be blessed!

Yes, Shar, so far I've been thrilled with everything the art department at BHP has done. Though I have to agree with Barb, I like the teal dress the best and from what my editor told me, most everyone else in-house did too.
And I'm now anxious for June to get here, too, Jen, so Courting Trouble can come out. I find I get really impatient when I turn the manuscript in, then by the time June gets here I'm so far into the next book, I have to reread the one that is being released! How crazy is that?

The time it takes to get ANYthing published in the print world is what I find to be crazy! Everything takes so long!

Are you taking a breather or have you started on the next one?

Oh, no. I've been researching for two months (for the new book) and I just got my revision request from my editor (for Courting Trouble). So, now I need to do that.
Last week I turned in the outline, prologue and first chapter of the next book for approval. I have four more research books to read, then I'll pick up where I left off (at chapter two) and write, write, write until I have to turn it in (September 1st).

Deeanne - just found your site and LOVE the cover of Courting Trouble! I have delighted in reading your first two books and as I choose my historical fiction sparingly you have been a wonderful find! Look for my posts on your books soon - I will email them to you :)
