24
My name is Deeanne Gist and I'm a 24 fanatic. Greg and I started watching 24 on DVD last year. Our Blockbuster carried seasons 1 - 4, so we started with 1 and had made our way through all 4 seasons by September. We absolutely loved it. For those of you who never watched it, the show is centered around the CTU (Central Terrorist Unit). They are a branch of the government that try to stop any terrorist activity that threatens our country. What makes this different from some of the other shows, is that it is set in "real time."
In other words, the entire story takes place over a 24 hour period. In the first episode, CTU might hear of a threat on the President's life. Let's say that happens at 1:00 pm on a Tuesday. Well, then the first episode takes place from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on that Tuesday. (I'm not talking about air times here. I'm talking about the setting of the story.)
The next episode (showing a week later) will be what happens at CTU from 2:00 - 3:00 on that same Tuesday. There are 24 episodes in all, so the final episode takes place from 12:00 - 1:00 pm on Wednesday--a full 24 hours after the initial "threat" occurs. Does that make sense?
In any event, it is full of action and drama and nail-biting scenarios. You get attached to some characters, annoyed with others and disappointed with yet others. This past Tuesday (the 9th), Season 5 was released on DVD. I was at our Blockbuster when the doors opened.
Greg and I have watched 8 hours (or 8 episodes) already. Since Tuesday! How embarrassing is that?? We are in a dilemma now, though. Because at the rate we are going, we will be finished with Season 5 by the end of the month. And Season 6 starts up on TV this Sunday. (These HAVE to be watched in order. We can't start on Season 6 until we are through with Season 5. Nor can we jump in on Season 6 in the middle of everything without know what went on earlier.)
After much discussion last night, we decided we'd tape the episodes on video and watch them when we had the ability to fast forward through the commercials. In the meanwhile, I've gone back to Blockbuster this morning and picked up the next 8 hours of Season 5. Can't wait until tonight, so I can find out what happens next!
Are any of you 24 watchers? Are you all caught up? Are you watching the big 2-day, 4-hour premiere on Sunday and Monday? (On Fox)

Rush Limbaugh has talked about the show extensively, and had a weekend at his home at one point with the 24 cast (he posted pictures on his website). He said today something about how there are going to be 4 surprises in this weekend's show that viewers won't believe. Anyway, is it something a person can just jump into, or do you need to start with the original shows?

I wanna be a 24 watcher, but I'm afraid I'm not. We did the same thing with season 1 through Netflix, but we didn't plan very well. We moved right in the middle. lol
I'm hoping to maybe get back on the wagon and try it again!

Sarah, some of us have harassed Miz Dee about a sequel to that story, but it sounds like it won't happen until at least after 2011, if at all. Boo hoo. Unless Miz Dee has changed her mind???

Like Jennster, I too am a "24" wanna-be. The show I plan my life around is on only during the summer, and few people have heard of it. It's "The 4400" and is on the USA Network. It will be in its 4th season this summer. It's about 4400 people who just disappear over a period of several decades, them appear out of nowhere on a beach in Washington State. Each person returns with a special ability. It's a great show. You could jump right in wherever you are, but you'd be better off starting off at the beginning. The first 2 seasons are on DVD, and season 3 is being replayed and will be replayed again right before Season 4 starts. Great show.

I'm afraid the sequel to BRIDE is a long way off, if at all. I just can't seem to get motivated to write a novel set in England. American history is my first love, so ... for now, can we just say Josh lives happily ever after?? ;-)
You were right, Barb. Greg & I stayed up until midnight watching *4 HOURS* of 24 last night. Ha!
I love American Idol and actually voted last year when a boy from my hometown made it to the top 12.
I've heard awesome things about Dancing With the Stars. I think I would really like it, but it's on a night that is a little too hectic for us. I've looked for it on DVD, but haven't seen it?
Those 24 wannabe's: You MUST start with Season 1, Disc 1 or you will be lost!!
Sarah: Thanks for being concerned, sweet pea. No tornados in my neck of the woods. However, the last several days have been in the high 70s and within the next 24 hours the temperature is suppose to drop by 40 degrees and into the freezing zone.
So, I watched a high school soccer game today (daughter's game) in my tank top and sandals and will be wearing 3-layers of clothing, boots, woolies, hats, gloves and scarf tomorrow. Ha!

well when you do get modivated.. =) i will surely be the first person to buy the book. ;)
you know what you should do if you do wright it. you should send it out in 2011 like barb said, come to Michigan, bring a copy of the book, go to my graduation party, and sign it for me. =)
hahaha that would be cool. ;)

for the sequal, you could make a part in the book where Josh comes to visit America (Virgia actually) from England. You could just continue where you left off.
OK.. im done talking about it.. hahaha
sorry but your book was just really awesome

Now, Dee, Sarah is onto something. You simply must continue Josh's story. I feel bad that we just sort of left the poor boy hanging--without a love of his own. Boo-hoo.
However, I do know what you mean about your first love being American history. I give you so much credit for writing in "Bride's" time period. My three-book series is set in 1895-96 along a creek in the hills of Kentucky. I'm a sucker for the 1800s myself...around the time of my own grandfather's birth.
Blessings,
Shar

Hi there, First i wanted to tell you that whenever I am having a "down" day at work, I always love to come to your website and read your blog! You are so personable and friendly that after I've read your blog, I feel like I've chatted with a friend! I guess that's why you are such a great writer. But enough sucking up ;) here's what i was really wanting to tell you.... I am not a fan of 24, BUT the head pastor at my church is a HUGE fan, so we have been doing a 24-week series about 24 episodes in life of Jesus and it is all done in the theme of the tv show! Check it out, you can even watch a video of a recent sermon in the series, I think you'll like it :)

Hi Dee!! Your book Bride was astouding, we loved it here, even my 25 year old son read it, he loved it!!! We are always anticipating the next book written by Dee. :-)
We LOVE "24". We too have watched the sets starting with season 1. We are now finishing up season 4. Not sure what happened to Behrooz, he got handed over to the terroists and I never saw him again?? I think Keifer Sutherland is a awesome actor! But, I think all the actors on 24 are really awesome. My husband and I both were gushing with a "awwwwwww" with Michele (Reiko) and Tony (Carlos) both confessed their love again after CTU thought Tony got blown up. I think Chloe and Edgar need to hook up, they are so much alike. But, you have like Chloe's directness, she cracks me up. I'm glad Nina is gone, finally!!! Its' too bad Jack's daughter is out of the show.... I just wish we had a president like Palmer, he is so strong! That wife of his was a peice of work. Rock on "24", we will be watching season 5 when we get a chance. My husband works ungodly hours for the state and my oldest son and I both are college students. But, we are hooked on "24". We like X-Files too, but they are not on TV anymore.
Can't wait for the next book in June! You are such a talent... I loved the jewelry pictures and what a romantic husband you have!
Peace to you and yours!
