Happy New Year
I love the new year. It has such a "fresh start" feel to it--like taking a plate that has smears of A-1 sauce, bits of gristle, rivulets of steak juice and one more bite of ikky spinach, then holding it under a water faucet. Watching all the remains of my meal being whisked away, leaving a shiny, new plate just waiting to be filled with something new and fresh and wonderful.
As Christians, of course, we experience this kind of renewal internally on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. I guess that's why I'm a morning person. I love going through that process with the Lord every morning.
Anyhoo, standing at the precipice of a brand new year is so exciting. I looked at last year's resolutions to see how I did. They were:
- Organize my pantry (with all those cool Tupperware containers)
- Organize my medicine cabinet
- Organize my closet
- Organize my arts & crafts closet
- Organize my sewing closet
- Organize my attic
Percentage wise, I didn't do too well. Only 50%--and that's if you don't count the fact that I had someone else organize my medicine cabinet. So, it got done, but not by me.
Still, I did clean out my closet and it is still such a joy to go inside it. I organized my attic, though it gets all messed up this time of year until the transition from Christmas to back-to-normal has been completed. And I didn't clean out my arts & crafts closet, but I did set up a scrapbook room--which I am just *loving.*
So, that leaves this year. Obviously, I'd still like to accomplish what I didn't in 2006. So, right off the bat, my resolutions for 2007 will be:
- Organize my pantry (with all those cool Tupperware containers)
- Organize my arts & crafts closet
- Organize my sewing closet
Dare I stop there? No, this year, I'd like to add something a little more benevolent to my list. Something that benefits someone besides me. But it has to measurable. I've got it. I want to go on a mission trip. I've never been on one in my entire life and lately I've really had a desire to.
So, resolution number 4:
4. Go on a mission trip.
Okay. Your turn. What are your resolutions for 2007?
And by the way, welcome back. I missed you last week!

Which country do you want to do missions work in? With all of the traveling that Mr Greg does, you could just go along with him but find a church or missionary that you could work with while he does biznessy things!

One of the places my church is doing a mission is in Sweden. That sounds about my pace! ha!
But, they are leaving next month, so I'm sure I'm too late to sign up. I will see what other trips they have coming up that aren't quite so far, maybe.

Maybe if you offer to bring snax they'll squeeze you in....
We have a friend saving her money to go work in an orphanage in Africa for a month. In fact, she's a fan of your books!

I've made no resolutions. For me it's just a set up for failure. lol
I admire your organizational proclivities. Wish I had some. :o)
I suppose if I had to pick one resolution it would be to expand my ministry with the youth at church. Especially the teenage girls. But that's on hold because I finally (after 19 months) had my breast reconstruction surgery on December 29th and I've been told to expect a good 6 to 8 weeks of recovery. So I suppose I can make it a spring resolution!

Oh, Jen! Be sure to follow the doctor's orders and don't over-do. Congrats on getting your surgery done, though. I will pray for a speedy recovery for you (you still need to take it nice and slow, though!)
Oh, goodness, Barb. A month! Wouldn't that be something? Tell her I send my blessings!

In fact I just entered a post minutes ago on my blog about my New Year's resolution. Like you, Jen, I fail miserably, so I hate making them. I did, however, make a promise to myself (okay, call it a resolution) to get to Curves more! I've been a member for several years, but I'm not the best at staying consistent when it comes to exercise. Basically, let's admit it, I hate to sweat!!! But I went three times this week, so I'm off to a good start in '07. On a sidenote, I have lost 18# since August, so it's kind of nice going to Curves knowing all I'm doing is working on toning muscle, not killing myself trying to lose the weight, too. Anybody else go to Curves???
HUGS and Blessings for the New Year!
Shar
Oh, Dee, last year I went on a mission trip to LA to help in a Hurricane Katrina relief project. It was incredibly rewarding. If you are serious about going on a trip, God will lay on your heart the place He wants you to go.

I went to Curves for a year and a half and was rock-hard. One day during that time my husband bumped into my shoulder and feigned permanent damage to himself, I was so hard. :o)

Barb, you are too funny for words. I've worked out at Curves for some time now--er--off and on for some time now, and the only hard thing on my body is my head, oh, and maybe my elbows. Yep, that's about it. But I go to the doc for my yearly checkup next month, and I want to be able to tell him I'm working out at Curves--so it won't be a lie. Three times this week. Woo-hoo!

I always have a physical in February, which is great incentive to get my eating habits back in line after Christmas. The pain starts next week, tho last year my e-coach Sandy helped me lose 27 lbs from about Jan-March. Unfortunately I found a lot of 'em again since Thanxgiving....

I'm the E-COACH! Come on, Barb, you can do it!
I love your desire to go on a mission, Dee. I pray it comes to pass for you.
I'm not a resolution-type-of-girl. Never have been. But if you're wanting to be a little more "hospitable" in 2007, check out my blog!
Happy New Year, Dee! I hope I get to see you in Atlanta this year.
