Ice Storm
Our ice storm arrived last night as predicted. Schools are closed and roads are hazardous. I can never figure out why the kids want school canceled on days like this. We can't go anywhere or do anything and now we won't get Good Friday off (which will probably be a glorious day weather-wise). But, there's no telling that to the kids. They are living for the here and now and school off today is better than school off tomorrow.

Our poor oleanders are bowing under the weight of the ice. I hope the limbs don't break and that the trees fully recover. They are so pretty during the spring and summer!
So, as we snuggle around the fire and drink our hot chocolate, we keep an eye on the forecast. Which says that on Sunday it will be 60 degrees. Ha!

Hi Dee! It's a "SNOW" day here in So. Oregon. First one in about 4? years? The kids are so happy. They are out crazily playing in the snow. But .. I know SNOW is different than ICE! So a watchful eye makes sense.

Just a weensie bit of snow up here in West Michigan. Such strange weather all across the U.S. For a state that usually gets dumped on year after year, we are having a wonderfully mild winter, and i'm not complaining one iota. I do hear we're in for a bit more white stuff in the next few days, but nothing major. Eagerly awaiting spring!
Blessings,
Shar

You can keep that heavy icing stuff. We had a storm like that when I was a teen and were without power for 3 days in the middle of winter. Hauling water from the pond to flush our toilet, heating with wood alone, hoping the pipes wouldn't freeze. We never wanna do that again...

I spent my day inside starting my own blog (and dressing my daughter's polly pockets), and since I saw that some of you already viewed my blank profile, I wanted to let you know. I hope you're all enjoying your hot chocolate!

We have been snowed/iced in for a couple of days now here in Austin. Not sure what's going to happen tomorrow with the heatwave coming thru and temps shooting up to 40. :-) Austin winters have been so mild the past few years, so this was a first for my 7-year-old. She had so much fun knocking down icicles and attempting to make a sleetman (not enough snow for a snowman!). She also got to "participate" in a neighborhood snowball fight and had a great time!!! The days off from school gave us a chance to meet some of our new neighbors. We moved right before Christmas (yes, I know...we're not genius material!) and are now 3 minutes from school vs. 20+ minutes. Yea!!!

Ah, but Sarah. Now you get to tell your kids someday: "I used to walk home from school in the cold winter snow ..." :-)
