New Bible Study

Ladies Bible Study starts up in two weeks. So, I browsed our church's website to see what studies they had to choose from this semester. I was all set to do something non-Beth Moore (since I just did Daniel and I knew they would be offering it again). Yet, lo and behold, they were offering Beth's Breaking Free.

I've heard so much about that study--how life changing it is. So, I'm tickled pink to be able to do it. And what's more (no pun intended), I get to do it with my brand new Bible. Over the holidays I finished transposing all my highlighted Scriptures and notes. I even glued an oversized envelope on the inside of the back cover so I'd have someplace to store my index cards (where I write the memory verse I'm working on that week/month) and where I can slip prayer requests.

So, I'm all geared up and ready to start. What about you? Are you doing a Bible study this semester?

Don't know if anyone is familiar with The Women's Devotional Guide to the Bible by Jean Syswerda, but this is my new study for the year. I'm also joining a 12-week Beth Moore study in March. Like you, Dee, I'm pumped! If you ladies get a chance, go into B&N or your local Christian bookstore and take a peek at Jean's new book. It takes you straight through the Bible (not every chapter, so don't panic, but an overview). It's a very doable study, full of inspiration and great insights.

Jean's a good friend btw. Hubby and I went vacationing with them this summer.

I'm not in a study right now, but just finished reading Jesus Mean & Wild by Mark Galli and Embrace Grace by Liz Higgs simultaneously. Interesting how they complemented each other at times!

Our home group is about to decide what we'll study next. Might be anything from Beth Moore to one of the Navigators studies, or maybe we'll pick a book of the Bible and start reading through it together.

I LOVE Beth Moore studies. I love Beth Moore books. In fact, I just love Beth Moore. Have you ever been to one of her conferences? Talk about dynamic!

My ladies' home team was doing a study on Ephesians before Christmas break and now that I'm recuperating I won't get to finish it with them. I'll do it on my own, but it's just not the same.

I'm looking foward to starting the next study with the ladies - whenever and whatever that may be.

Barb - did you like Embrace Grace? I have the book, but I haven't read it yet. There's another wonderful speaker and writer.

My home group is studying Build Your House on the Lord by Steve and Dee Brestin, which has to do with marriage. I'm reading The Prayer that Changes Everything by Stormie Omaritan. And I'm so blessed because my husband just started reading Power of A Praying Husband, also by Stormie.

If you've never read any of her books you need to. I was hooked in 6th grade when I swiped her autobiography from my mom's nightstand. I remember I was on a field trip in the school bus, and I had to put the book down because I got nausious reading about her abortion. Anyway, her message is powerful.

Sarah, Have you ever done anything by Priscilla Shiver? My daughters *LOVE* her. Do you have any girlfriends your age that would be interested in doing a Bible study with you?

Maybe you could pick up a devotional or something from a Christian book store in your area? Or maybe from Christianbooks.com?

Hey, girls. Do y'all know of a good Bible study for teens that Sarah could do on her own or with some friends??

Well, praise the Lord! Angela and I were posting at the same time, so I didn't see hers until mine posted.

Angela, would Stormie's autobiography be something for Sarah and her friends to try? (I haven't read it.)

I want to read, "Get out of that Pit," by BM and Liz CH's new book (hint-hint, maybe Barb will loan it to me!)

OK Sandy, you can have it when I'm done! Yes Jenster, anything Miz Liz writes is great, and very honest. Embrace is different and creative--sort of like you're in a group of chix as you go thru it, even if you're alone.
This probably wasn't what you were thinking of for teens, but Crown has a great financial study for teens that teaches them early how God wants us to use our money (you might be surprised) and helps kids to get on the right financial path before they go over the deep end with debt.

Deeanne, Stormie actually has a book called Power of a Praying Teen. I bought it for my little sister.
