A Spoonful of Sugar
Mother’s Day at our house was kind of quiet. Greg was out of town. The college kids hadn’t made it home. And I had a plane flight out to meet with my publisher. So, I figured the kids would be off the hook. But low and behold, look what I woke up to.
CUPCAKES! My 23 yo daughter (the one that majored in graphic design) stayed up until 4:00am making them. The cupcakes are frosted green and make up the “ground.” Some of the “flowers” are made of vanilla wafers decorated with cut up marshmallows which she painted with dyed sugar. Others have petals made of jelly beans and m&n’s. The butterflies are constructed with the chocolate you dip strawberries in. Is that just the cutest thing ever?
And if that weren’t enough, she grouped them around scented body lotions and an adorable pink watering can filled with yellow tulips.
I just couldn’t believe it when I walked into the breakfast room. I haven’t been able to bring myself to eat one of those cupcakes. They’re way too pretty! She had some extra put aside, though, and it ends up she made them from scratch with rice flour and birch sugar because she knew I’d been trying to eat healthier. Can you believe that?
What about you? How did you (and your mom) celebrate Mother’s Day?

Your daughter has AMAZING talent! What a sweetheart! I think I would have a hard time eating something that pretty too :) I hope your flight went well and I hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day! PS - Can't wait to get my hands on Maid to Match! I've been stalking my Barnes & Nobles looking for it. They had Beguiled out a couple weeks early so I keep hoping they might put Maid to Match out early too!

Your daughter is sooo sweet and talented!! :) Happy Mother's Day!
My Mother's Day was realllly special this year, too. I just found out that I'm pregnant for the 1st time and my husband pointed out that, that means I'm a Mom-to-be! :) So this was my 1st Mother's Day. To celebrate, my fabulous husband bought me a beautiful necklace AND cleaned the bathroom for me! haha I felt really blessed and loved!

My brother, cousin, and I got two big poster sheets Saturday night, and went outside and made a big, big card for our mothers. We wrote the way they inspired us and how thankful we are to them. It wasn't much for them, but when my mom and Aunt read them, they both started to cry and came over and hugged all three of us. Thank God for the both of them. :)

Happy Late Mother's Day Dee!
Those little cupcakes are so pretty!..i wish I could make things look that good..haha
Mother's Day morning I got up and took my niece and nephews in my room and gave them the stuff to make a card for their grandma...it all turned out to be adorable...then they each grabbed a side of the card and carried it to mom....she light up as soon as she seen it...then she read my card and ended up laughing and crying at the same time...which of course made me cry...uhh (: haha My mom is deffently the milk to my cookie. We didn't do much but it was just nice to have the family together for a bit.
God Bless. Hope the rest of your week is as good as the begining.

You'll have to point out where I can find some "m&n's" Mom. They sound a lot better than "m&m's". Goofball.

Mother's Day was different this year and also hard. On January 31st my Mother lost her battle with Alhemizer's after 3 years and went to be with Jesus. I had to leave church service because a song was sang that I could not stop crying because of.
My oldest daughter tore up check I send her to pay for our and my other daughter's cell phone bill. She told me to use that to get the slacks and bras I wanted. I got more than that for $ 62. I cannot believe I bought two pairs of nice name brand slacks at Macy's, two bras for $ 4 each from Fashion Bug, and a hanging plant as well.
My youngest daughter bought me a DVD and we went to her house so my husband could fix us steak on the grill (as that is what I wanted), I made potato salad and my husband made the baked beans. My daughter's Mother-in-law donated the cake.
As the Mother-in-law had lost her husband this year, it made her day special too.

Jane, I am so sorry that you had to understand Alzheimers as only a family member can. My grandfather died of Alzheimers, and I remember watching my family hurt through it. But, praise God for His healing power! He is the only one who can restore our broken souls- Glory be to Him! Deeanne, I ordered my mom your new book for Mother's Day! She was making pancakes the Saturday before and I just couldn't hold it in any longer! I feel like I cheated though- because I will get to read it too!
